In 2008, Bonfire Shield (originally under the name Noorco, a 40 year-old construction and fitout company and a renowned joinery & door manufacturer in Qatar) embarked on an in-house development and testing of it's own designed fire rated wooden and composite door cores and door assembles. Since then, Bonfire Shield has tested over than 30 different configuration and designs of fire rates doors. Bonfire Shield currently has wooden/composite fire rated doors up to 120 minutes and metal doors up to 240 minutes.

In 2019, Bonfire Shield initiated an in-house research & development of eco-friendly door cores ( Eco- Shield & Eco-Panel ) manufactured from recycled fibers and mostly locally available materials. Several prototype designs have been tested in Bonfire Shield's own in-house full size 1.5 x 2.4m indicative door fire test furnace.

Bonfire Shield plans to test and commercialize several configurations and designs of the Eco-Shield doors, in accredited door test laboratories, before the end of 2021. Concurrently, Bonfire Shield is developing it's own brand of fire rated ironmongery, fire seals and glazing systems. In addition, Bonfire Shield is developing it's own fire stop and fire rated glazing systems, to enable Bonfire Shield to provide an integrated and one-stop passive fire rated architectural solutions.
